Welcome to My Website!
To introduce myself, my name is Cheryl. It's always interesting to understand how or why someone ends up on a website - potentially with someone you've never actually met. What I hope is that you will discover tools & resources that will not only disciple you, but enable you to disciple others. You might ask, 'why is discipleship so important to you?' - and the answer would in short be - because of my journey.
I was introduced to Jesus at an early age. I have experienced many different denominations in my life: Methodist, Baptist, Foursquare, Mennonite, Assembly of God and Non-Denominational. I am beyond grateful for that journey. However, it wasn't until August of 2010 that I actually stopped running from God and intentionally and actively began pursuing a relationship with God [the Holy & Victorious Trinity] and I have not waivered. Truth be told, I wasn't discipled by any person but rather the Holy Spirit and it has been an extraordinary journey.
There is some advice that I would like to offer to anyone who is being taught the Word of God:
Love, [in] Christ,

- First, look for the Statement of Belief. You need to know where a person is coming from. If you cannot find a Statement of Belief, contact them and if they cannot or will not provide one - RUN.
- Second, anyone can write a Statement of Belief but IS IT BACKED UP BY SCRIPTURE? Trust me, that's important!
- Third, TEST EVERYTHING! And yes, that is Scriptural. One of the lessons that God taught me is that just because someone is teaching Biblically TODAY does not mean that they are TOMORROW. One of the most dangerous assumptions is in thinking that you no longer have to make sure because "hey, they've been spot on so far". It's easy to fall into that trap. I'll be the first to exhort others to test me - I am human and I can make a mistake.
- Fourth, anyone can call themselves a "Christian teacher" , a "Christian author", or whatever - but if their body of work is being toted as "Christian" or "Biblical" - then it should have Scripture in it (and not just some token representation) and even then, if it does have Scripture - you better have your Bible sitting right next to you - read it in context - read it in other translations. There are many warnings in the Bible about False Teachers - pay attention.
- Lastly, and this is just a personal observation based on the journey that God has taken me through, study multiple translations and don't get legalistic. When you are reading a section of Scripture in 3-5 different translations your eyes begin to not gloss over something that maybe you have ready many times and suddenly you are seeing with new eyes - when you are looking at different translations you also begin to see a difference in word choices and it should spur you to ask the question of "why did this one use this word and that one use that word?" and then it steers you to begin searching Hebrew & Greek meanings. It's very transformative and powerful!
Love, [in] Christ,
Cheryl
